A demonstration on how this great artist painted, is given by myself to art societies and clubs.
A different type of demonstration, an evening with Van Gogh. A fun and informative talk / demo on this truly inventive artist. His dashes & swirls way of painting, and his rage against time.
A running commentary on his lifestyle, while painting one of his famous paintings, usually Cornfield and Cypresses 1999. An explanation of technique like scumble , chiaroscuro or glaze. During the demonstration I comment upon the preparations and equipment I'm using, colour mixes and brush types. His life style and the history of the time, i.e. did you know the Eiffel tower was under construction in his lifetime.

Vincent's Wheatfield and Cypresses, 1889, National Gallery, London. There was a fence in this view but its thought that Vincent conceives this as restrictive, like his cell in St.Remy Asylum at the time. This view was for a time all Vincent could see locked in his room as he was.
I did a demonstration on Vincent at Dovercourt Art Club 17th May 2000. I painted Vincent's Chair, projected a few slides of his paintings and talked about Van Gogh's lifetime. Does your society want a demo like this? If your local Essex/Sufolk phone: Doug on 01255 423899
